‘America’s Next Top Model’ Goes to Jaslene Gonzalez, First Latina to Win Competition

It seems that the second time around was the charm for Jaslene Gonzalez as the 20-year-old Chicago native was named winner of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ after falling short a year ago.

After winning the Tyra Banks inspired show Gonzalez tearfully said “"Every little girl has a dream to be something, and to be here, I overcame so much. I didn't make it the first time but, now, look at me…That shows to all young women, if you have that drive, keep going. Second time around, and I'm America's Next Top Model!”

Gonzalez’s win marked the first time a Latina has earned the title ‘America’s Next Top Model’ and with it she was awarded a year’s representation by Elite Model Management, a CoverGirl cosmetics contract worth $100,000 and a cover shot on Seventeen magazine complete with a six-page spread.

Gonzalez beat out Renee Alway, 20, and Natasha Galkina, 21.
