Fiberglass Screen Checks (F SC ) Help Allergy Sufferers!

Some call fiberglass the next asbestos.  Although fiberglass has not been proven to be a carcinogen, it is a well known irritant that can trigger an  allergies or an asthma attack.  Also, fiberglass can compromise your immune system and introduce various pollutants with its spear-like tips causing a contact dermatitis type condition.  Fiberglass is now used for thermal insulation of industrial buildings and homes, as acoustic insulation, ductwork, for fireproofing, as a reinforcing material in plastics, cement, and textiles, in automotive components, in gaskets and seals, in filters for air and fluids, and for many other miscellaneous uses. More than 30,000 commercial products now contain fiber glass.

Now, Building Health Check L.L.C. (BHC), a national indoor air quality (IAQ) screen check testing products supplier and franchisor of building diagnostic sciences services, is introducing a product line of do-it-yourself (DIY)  Fiberglass Screen  Check test kits for the indoor environment of a home or office.  These fiberglass screen check kits assist with identifying the presence and amount of fiberglass in the home or office.

Fiberglass as an irritant is an ever growing concern.  Many homes and business have air conditioning duct systems which contain fiberglass as the insulation component.  Over time, duct board can experience erosion failure which will result in fiberglass in the air you breathe as well as a skin irritant.  Fiberglass has been used as insulation for the home or building envelope in attics and exterior walls.  Whether you’ve had an air handler unit change outs or work in attic crawl spaces, these types of repairs can introduce fiberglass into the home or air conditioning system.  The fiberglass screen check kits help identify the presence of fiberglass in the indoor environment.  This is accomplished using the Bio-Scan (patent pending) scotch tape prep technology.  The indoor environmental sampling technique is simple.  The samples are analyzed at EDLab (AIHA 102795) and a lab report produced.
