Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have 14 Oscar nominations between them, three of which resulted in wins, and while they’ve shared the screen before in “Heat” and carried roles in "The Godfather: Part II" they have never acted together throughout a film.
That’s coming to an end as the two Hollywood heavyweights have partnered to portray police investigators tracking a serial killer in “Righteous Kill.”
De Niro, who won an Oscar for supporting actor in “The Godfather: Part II” as well as lead actor in “Raging Bull,” and Pacino, who captured his lone Oscar win for lead actor in “Scent of a Woman,” have been friends for a long time.
When asked about the pairing of two of the most recognizable names in Hollywood the film’s co-producer Avi Lerner said “This is an event in world history.”
“Righteous Kill” is being written by Russell Gerwitz” and produced by Lerner and Randall Emmett.
