Grammy Award-winning singer Scott Stapp, former frontman of the rock group Creed, was arrested on Sunday at his home in South Florida on a domestic violence charge with intent to commit a felony.
Stapp, 33, was taken to Palm Beach County Jail and was being held without bond but early this morning a judge lowered the original booking charge to a misdemeanor and he was released.
According to reports, Stapp threw a glass bottle at his wife, Jaclyn Nesheitwat, after she questioned him about abusing drugs. When police arrived they discovered the broken glass as well as several firearms that were kept in a safe.
Strapp and Nesheitwat, a former Miss New York, were married in February 2006.
After selling over 25 million albums worldwide Stapp left Creed in November 2005 and launched a solo career that has yet to reach the same commercial success.
