Unlike its reality show cousin ‘American Idol’ at least ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was able to put the best trio together for their final dance off on Monday and Tuesday. As for who will take the disco ball trophy it’s anybody’s guess. Apolo Anton Ohno has proven that he can use his legs for much more than just speed-skating, Laila Ali has shown she possess a quickstep just as impressive as her quick jabs and Joey Fatone has continued to utilize his skills from his boy band days with ‘N SYNCH to impress the judges.
So it will take a little bit more than just talent to capture the crown this year on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ much like it did last year when Emmitt Smith upset Mario Lopez in the finals based largely on personality.
If it comes down to personality Fatone may win out due to his playful approach to the competition. While his abilities equal those of Apolo and Laila his sense of humor gives him a leg up on the two.
Apolo Anton Ohno could garner the viewers vote if ‘Dancing’ judge Len Goodman continues to give him a hard time. Apolo has had little trouble adjusting to the varied of dances each week and his competitive nature may be enough to push him over the top.
As for Laila she has an advantage that Joey and Apolo lack and that is being a female. Not that that is an automatic qualifier for her to win but in the two seasons of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ there has yet to be a woman that has won and the viewers know that. In the past there really was no impressive woman contestant but now Ali has gone beyond impressing and really sets the standard when she hits the floor.
All thereof the finalists have racked up perfect 30 rounds several times and both Ali and Fatone had a perfect night last week when they totaled 60s for their two dances. To say the competition is close is a bit of an understatement and with the winner announced on Tuesday, tonight’s performances will make all the difference.
