Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at Cannes Film Festival for “A Mighty Heart” Premier

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attended the premier of her latest film “A Mighty Heart” at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday.  In the film Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, the widow of Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal newspaper reporter who was abducted and murdered in 2002 in Kirachi, Pakistan while researching the possible ties between the shoe bomber, Richard Reid, and Islamic fringe groups.

Jolie has expressed the scene in which she reenacts Mariane receiving the news of Daniel’s death as being “the hardest thing I’ve ever done.” Mariane Pearl was over five-months pregnant when Daniel was kidnapped. Her son Adam was born just a few months after Daniel was killed.

Mariane wrote "A Mighty Heart" and published it as a memoir in 2003.
