The New Orleans Hornets’ playoff hopes could be fading after news that All-Star guard Chris Paul is out indefinitely following an MRI on his left knee.
Originally thought to be a bruise, Paul’s injury turned out to be much worse on Monday as the MRI revealed torn cartilage which will require arthroscopic surgery.
In an ESPN report Hornets coach Jeff Bower would not confirm reports of a meniscus tear, telling the site “We're in fact-finding stages right now, gathering as much information as possible for decisions to be made to take the next steps. It is likely there will be a surgical solution for it. We don't have a timetable right now, nor do we know a surgical procedure right now.”
Paul initially injured his knee last Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors but it was a scramble for a loose ball in Friday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls that likely caused the tear.
