'Dancing with the Stars' crowned Apolo Anton Ohno as its champion on Tuesday night as the Olympic gold medalist dance past Joey Fatone and Laila Ali for the somewhat coveted title.
Each of the three stars had one final dance to impress the judges and it was another night of perfect scores as Apolo, Joey and Laila all recorded 30s for their routine. Combined with last night’s scores Apolo had a slight edge totaling out at 88 while Joey finished with 86 and Laila at 85 but there was still the viewers vote to factor in and when the time came for announcing who would be cast off first the tension was pretty thick.
The first star eliminated on Tuesday was Laila Ali. The boxing champ had an impressive run in the competition proving that she has just as much talent in her legs as she does in her hands and that talent wasn’t lost on the judges who consistently complimented her on her elegance and style.
Joey Fatone was the next to fall and that left Apolo Anton Ohno as the new ‘Dancing with the Stars’ champion. While Joey carried in a lot of dancing experience when the show began in the end it was Apolo’s ability to improve each week and by the end of the competition it was clear he was the best dancer on the floor.
