Tim Duncan scored 26 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 5 shots, Tony Parker added 17 points and 14 assists and Manu Ginobili finished with 17 points as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Utah Jazz 105-96 to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference Finals match-up.
San Antonio held a slim 26-24 heading into the second quarter but the Spurs steadily built their lead to eight and then Brent Barry and Michael Finley hit back-to-back three-pointers and the lead was 48-34. The Spurs then closed the half on an 8-2 run and headed to the locker room with a 58-41 lead and the Jazz could never climb back.
The Spurs led by as many as 22 points in the second half but an 11-2 run to start the fourth pulled Utah to within seven. Bruce Bowen pushed the lead back to ten with a three-pointer and then answered a Carlos Boozer jumper with another triple and the lead was extended to eleven with just over seven minutes remaining in the game.
After Bowen countered the Jazz push Utah was never able to get any closer than the final bucket Deron Williams sank with eight seconds left.
The series now shifts to Utah where the two teams will meet again on Saturday in game three of their best of seven series.
