Once again Rosie O’Donnell pushed buttons on “The View” and this time she got an earful from co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck who is no longer willing to let Rosie’s comments slide without a fight.
Despite promising not to antagonize the pregnant Hasselbeck and her conservative viewpoint O’Donnell laid into the controversial top of America’s involvement in Iraq and went on to call Hasselbeck a coward.
The slide into chaos began when Joy Behar began spouting off reasons why George Bush should be removed from office and Elisabeth took exception to some of the comments and told Joy “the enemy is in Iraq” at which point Behar tried to silence her.
Rosie then popped off about how Elisabeth didn’t defend her when her comments about “soldiers are terrorists” set off a public outcry. When Rosie pressed Elisabeth about whether she believed the comment was directly calling U.S. soldiers “terrorists” Hasselbeck fell silent. At that point Rosie called Elisabeth “cowardly” for not answering the question. Hasselbeck shot back “"Don’t call me a coward. I sit here every day and open my heart and tell people exactly what I believe . . . It was not cowardly. It was honest . . . asking a rhetorical question? That is cowardly.”
While Rosie will be leaving the show in June it doesn’t appear as if Elisabeth is just going to ignore O’Donnell’s comments any longer. The two have a history of going at each other as Rosie supports a more liberal viewpoint compared to the conservative ideals of Hasselbeck.
O’Donnell did say that she would no longer fight with Hasselbeck because it was “absurd” and told her “for three weeks you can say all the Republican crap you want.” Hasselbeck wouldn’t allow Rosie off that easy saying “It’s much easier to fight someone like Donald Trump because he is obnoxious.”
