Filippo Inzaghi scored in the 45th-minute and added a second goal in the 82nd minute to lift AC Milan past Liverpool 2-1 on Wednesday giving the Italian club its seventh European Cup title.
Inzaghi’s first goal came off a deflection of Andrea Pirlo’s free kick that made its way through the Liverpool wall. Inzaghi was able to get a piece of the ball and sneak it past Pepe Reina for a 1-0 lead.
The second half remained scoreless until Inzaghi took a pass from Kaka and darted up the center and slipped it passed Reina for the clincher.
Liverpool scored its lone goal in the final minute off the boot of Dirk Kuyt.
The win moved AC Milan to within two of Real Madrid for most European titles.
