Charles Manson will have to wait another five years before he becomes eligible for parole after the Board of Parole Hearings denied the 72-year-old convicted murderer on Wednesday.
Manson is currently serving a life sentence for the 1969 murders of five people at the home of actress Sharon Tate and the killing of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca the following day.
In their denial the board wrote Manson “continues to pose an unreasonable danger to others and may still bring harm to anyone he would come in contact with.” They cited his refusal to take part in any rehabilitation programs or psychiatric evaluations as part of the reason for their denial.
Manson was originally sentenced to death but California state law ruled the death penalty to be unconstitutional in 1972 and he had his sentence changed to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 1977.
