The Mary Jane McCord Planned Parenthood Book Sale Returns to Earl Warren Showgrounds

September 19 to 28, 2014

Planned Parenthood is pleased to announce its 40th Annual Book Sale, named in memory of Mary Jane McCord, one of our longest-serving and most dedicated volunteers. The sale returns to the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Warren Hall, located at Las Positas Road and Highway 101 in Santa Barbara. The used book sale is the largest in the Tri-Counties, offering nearly 200,000 books from current best sellers to antiquarian treasures in over 50 categories.

“Thanks to our generous donors and enthusiastic volunteers, our 40th anniversary book sale will be the biggest ever,” says Anne Diamond, book sale chairperson. “There are books for every avid reader or book collector. Among our outstanding selection of mysteries, we have a collection of first edition, signed Elizabeth George novels in perfect condition affordably priced.”

The event kicks off with a special opening night reception on Thursday, September 18th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For a $30 admission fee, book lovers and collectors can enjoy wine, appetizers and first choice of thousands of titles.

The regular sale, which is free to the public, will continue September 19th to 28th. Additional books are displayed daily. For more information call (805) 722-1527, or visit booksale.ppsbvslo.org.

Proceeds from this 10-day event help support Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo Counties. This non-profit organization provides family planning, responsible sexuality education and preventive health care throughout the tri-counties.
