Deron Williams scored 31 points, dished out 8 assists and recorded 5 steals and Carlos Boozier finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds as the Utah Jazz beat the San Antonio Spurs 109-83 to take game three of their Western Conference Finals game and now trail 2-1 in the series.
San Antonio started quick against the Jazz and held 23-15 advantage after the first quarter. The Spurs bumped their lead to eight in the second but had to settle for a 47-43 lead at the half.
The Jazz were able to tie the score early in the third quarter as Deron Williams hit a pair of free-throws to knot the score at 49-49. San Antonio reestablished their three point lead but it was Williams who buried a triple to even the score at 54-54. Carlos Boozer gave the Jazz the lead with a 17-footer, their first advantage since a 2-0, and then grabbed the lead for good on a Derek Fisher three-pointer that followed a Tony Parker layup. Utah then closed the quarter on a 9-4 spurt and carried a 75-67 lead into the fourth.
Utah then opened the final period on a 17-7 run and grabbed an 18 point lead that buried the Spurs hopes climbing back into the game.
Parker led the Spurs with 25 points and 7 assists but Tim Duncan struggled all night as he was dealing with foul trouble. Duncan finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds with 8 turnovers.
The two teams will meet again on Monday in Utah for game four of their best of seven series.
