An alcohol rehabilitation program can be either “stand-alone”; that is, only those who suffer from alcohol addiction are treated, or can be in conjunction with other programs designed to also treat drug addiction. Programs can combine inpatient stays with supporting outpatient care, or may offer only inpatient facilities or outpatient capabilities.
Both drug and alcohol rehab programs can be conducted in many different ways. Some facilities may offer short-term medication support. For instance, at times certain drugs may be given which can cause enough of a reaction that an aversion to the drug is formed. Other drugs can help ease the agonies of withdrawal.
Other facilities focus on a holistic type of program. “Holistic” means that all aspects of a person are addressed—physiological, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Facilities that employ this method believe that it is necessary for all three areas to be address in order for the treatment to have the highest degree of success.
An example of a holistic program would be one that offers in-patient facilities, where the user can receive medical attention while undergoing detoxification and/or withdrawal. This would address the physiological part of the holistic approach. From there, the patient can enter the outpatient program.
Someone who did not require comprehensive medical treatment necessitating a stay in the in-patient part of the facility could also take advantage of the outpatient program. Physiological needs could be assessed, of course, and then the outpatient program participant could join others who share the same problem for the mental and emotional support that group therapy and other adjunctive measures.
Holistic programs utilize the 12-step process that has been used so successfully by Alcoholics Anonymous. Because one part of the 12-step process requires that one recognizes the need for a Higher Power for help in resolving the addiction, the spiritual aspect of the holistic experience is covered.
Cocaine addiction treatment can respond well to a holistic approach to drug treatment. Because cocaine is both physically and psychologically addictive, the all-encompassing aspects of holistic treatment lend themselves to successful therapy measures.
The holistic approach may be exactly what is needed to help a person begin the long process of recovery. Please allow us to help you or a loved one start this journey by contacting us at 1-800-559-9503 or visit our website at http://drugrehabcenter.com.
