Michael Vick can’t seem to shake the off season troubles that have been dogging him. According to an ESPN report the Atlanta Falcons quarterback was spotted at a dog fight in 2000 and is known to be “one of the heavyweights” it the sport.
Vick has repeatedly denied any involvement in operating and participating in dog fights but the evidence seems to be mounting that contradict his statements.
A police informant who is considered “extremely reliable” has said he witnessed Vick at a fight in 2000. The informant also said that Vick was known to put up a high-dollar bets on the fights, “I’m talking about large money, 30-40 thousand, even higher. He’s one of the heavyweights.”
Vick has had his name in the headlines since late April when property that he owned in Virginia was raided in part of a drug investigation. Police found 66 dogs and equipment known to be used by dog-fighting handlers.
While the whole situation has been a public relations disaster for the quarterback as well as the Atlanta Falcons, Vick’s problems could be elevated if charges are leveled against the 26-year-old. Dog fighting is a felony in Virginia.
