Ty Pennington gets 3 years probation for DUI

Ty Pennington pleaded no contest to DUI charges on Friday. He was arrested on May 5 for a DUI, but got out on a $5,000 bail. The host of ABC’s "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" had been charged with two misdemeanors. He was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level that exceeded the .08 limit, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The 42 year old host was put on three years probation after he pleaded no contest on the first charge and the second was dropped. He got off easy considering he faced 6 months jail time and a 1,000 dollar fine if he was convicted by a Superior court Jury. Instead, Pennington was only required to take part in a 90 day alcohol program and attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving meeting. He was also put on restricted driving privileges for 90 days.

"I’m happy to bring closure to my recent court proceedings," Pennington said. "Drinking and driving is never acceptable. I have pleaded no contest and will abide by the court’s ruling."
