Roger Clemens threw six shutout innings and struck out six while walking two in his 2-0 win for Triple-A Scranton/Wiles-Barre on Monday. Clemens looked to have his control back after struggling in his Double-A assignment earlier last week. Both walks came on full-counts as he threw 58 strikes out of his 89 offerings and allowed just two hits.
Clemens now appears set to join the Yankees’ rotation some time this weekend which would place him on the hill to face the Boston Red Sox.
Of course the Yankees are betting the farm on Clemens impact on their season. Trailing by 13.5 games already, if Clemens can’t solve New York’s rotation woes it could be a long summer.
