Consumers are being warned about a contact solution recall. The contact solution has been linked with a rare eye infection. Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) recalled "Complete All-In-One MoisturePlus solution" which is sold all across Canada and the United States. AMO says that all their other eye care products are safe to use.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed evidence that the solution could cause a condition called acanthamoeba keratitis (AK), which is a serious corneal infection. Common symptoms among patients are redness, severe pain, and possible loss of eye sight. Those who are left untreated may be required to have a corneal transplant.
Consumers are being advised to stop use of the product and throw it away along with the contact lens and cases they are currently using.
