Andy Roddick Out in First Round of French Open

Andy Roddick, America’s number one ranked tennis player and the world’s number three, took a beating on Tuesday at the hands of Russian Igor Andreev and for the second straight year will be watching the remainder of the French Open after the first round.

Things looked promising for the 24-year-old American as he took the first set 6-3 but Andreev took the next three with little trouble and won the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

The clay court at Roland Garros has been trouble for Roddick for some time now. His best performance was in 2001 when he reached the third round but since that time he has lost in the first round four times and in the second round twice.
