Yingli Green Energy Enters 2010 FIFA World Cup Sponsorship Agreement

Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd. (NYSE: YGE), the holder of the brand Yingli Solar, has released a joint statement with FIFA. FIFA is the international governing body of football. The announcement stated that Yingli was the first green energy company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup.

 

This year's event is being held from June 11-July 11, 2010 in South Africa. Along with being the first renewable energy company, they are also the first Chinese company to seal a sponsorship deal with FIFA.

The sponsorship was announced at the Yingli 2010 FIFA World Cup signing of the sponsorship ceremony and press conferences. The ceremony was hosted in Beijing and featured video messages from the FIFA headquarters in Zurich. Through this alliance, Yingli is looking to increase its marketing initiatives globally in conjunction with the World Cup.

 

The President of FIFA, Joseph S. Blatter, congratulated Yingli Green Energy from Zurich and stated that DIDA chose Yingli as an international sponsor because of their impressive past performance and dedication to the environment.

 

The sponsorship agreement with FIFA, bestows Yingli Green Energy with international marketing rights, which includes specific ticket, perimeter board advertising and media rights at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. At the event Yingli will have the right to exhibit its solar products at fan zones in the World Cup stadiums. Yingli can also place its logo next to the Official Emblem of the FIFA World Cup and advertise or promote its products and services in each step of the distribution process.
