Clean technology will eventually replace fossil fuels and investors can profit from that long-term trend.
One stock that worth taking a look at it Leuthold Global Clean Technology (LGCTX). The fund is the first from Leuthold that doesn’t rely primarily on the firm’s computer-driven market-and-sector-timing models. Instead it’s more conventional: it employs stock picking.
The fund uses Leuthold’s computer screens, but co-manage David Kurzman, applies himself to studying company financials, products and executives. Kurzman joined the firm after ten years in green tech, first as a brokerage analyst and later running a hedge fund. He looks for “best in class” stocks: fast-growing companies with revenues rising 20% or more annually.
Kurzman called the clean technology transformation a “multi-decade event”.
