The elder Lohan is no stranger to problems surrounding alcohol. He was released from a New York state prison in March after serving nearly two years for a DUI and other charges.

Lindsay is now looking at a similar charge of driving under the influence after her Saturday morning car accident. Lohan drove her Mercedes over a curb on Sunset Boulevard and hit a tree. Before police could arrive the car was gone and Lohan was already at the hospital. Police arrived at the Century City Hospital and charged the “Georgia Rule” star with suspicion of driving under the influence.  She is also facing the possibility of being hit with several other charges related to the accident.

The wild weekend led Lohan to check into Promises on Monday, her second treatment facility in five months. That's a very important step.”

A preliminary court date has been set for Aug. 24 for the charges stemming from this past weekend but Lohan will not have to appear.
