St Paul, MN, September 17, 2014 - St. Paul Funeral Home Director Scott Mueller was confident there would be an audience for his new book, What To Know Before You Go: An Insider’s Answers to the Most Commonly Asked Questions About Death, Grief and Funerals, when it launched on Thursday.
Mueller had been asked the same questions about memorial services, funeral expenses, grieving, and more by different people many times throughout his nearly 40 years working in the funeral profession. He realized that it made sense to write the answers down and make them available to everyone.
What he did not expect was reaching a number one spot on three of Amazon.com’s bestseller lists.
“Obviously I hoped it would get some traction in Amazon, but number one in three categories is more than I had imagined,” Mueller said, “And most overwhelming are the reviews. Several people mentioned how the book helped them personally in a practical way when they were planning a funeral. That’s exactly what the book is meant to be about.”
In an effort to get this information to the many people who need it, Mueller has made his book available worldwide via Amazon’s Kindle Store for 99 cents. He also has offered three additional bonuses to those who purchase the book through his website, WhatToKnowBook.com.
According to Mueller, “The more a person is prepared, the better their funeral arrangement experience will be. I want to help everyone get that advantage.”
With an aging population, the uncomfortable topics of death, grief and funerals will need to be addressed more frequently in the coming years. Hopefully the success of Scott Mueller’s book means that people are becoming more practical, and perhaps even more comfortable, with funeral planning and all that the process entails.
