India Offers to Resume Official Talks with Pakistan

India has announced it is willing to resume official talks with Pakistan, ending more than one year of silence following the deadly attacks on Mumbai.

Shortly after the November 2008 attacks that left at least170 people dead India pointed the finger at militants based in Pakistan. Saying Pakistan had not done enough to curb militant activity India opted to halt official talks with their neighbor.

Those talks could resume shortly as India has proposed talks involving the two country’s foreign secretaries. Pakistan is said to be looking for clarification concerning what the talks would focus on but appear to be willing to engage in comprehensive talks that would include terrorism.
