Drug Treatment Programs to Help Addicts in Georgia

The State of Georgia has several facilities dedicated to providing programs to help addicts once again become productive members of society. The State has programs that are publicly and privately funded.

Programs that receive public funds are offered to those wishing to receive help for various addictions. It is possible for a person who is seeking cocaine drug treatment to receive treatment at little or no cost to the person or his or her family.

Privately-funded facilities are also available. These do require that those wishing to participate in their programs pay for the treatment. Some of the facilities are very exclusive; therefore, their fees will be higher, while others are more reasonable. Anyone, however, who is serious about receiving drug treatment, can find a facility that he or she can afford.

No matter which type of facility is chosen—public or private—treatment programs may vary. Some facilities may focus mainly on the physiological aspects of the addiction, while other may focus primarily on the psychological problems that can occur as a result of addiction. The type of treatment program can vary from state to state, and even city to city in some states.

Some addiction treatment centers in Georgia, for instance, approach treatment from a holistic view. Holistic treatment includes all aspects of a person—physical, psychological, spiritual, and emotional. Centers who use the holistic approach believe that everything in a person’s body works together or in conjunction with each other; therefore, it is necessary to address all areas.

Holistic therapy helps the person to understand how the physical effects of addiction cause psychological and emotional responses. The spiritual part of the treatment teaches the person to look beyond him or herself for help in overcoming the addiction.
