China Warns Further Sanctions Against Iran would “Complicate the Situation”

China has pressed for more direct talks with Iran and warned that any further sanctions against the country would “complicate the situation.”

Iran has run into trouble with the United Nations due their refusal to meet requirements concerning their nuclear program. Already under sanctions imposed by the UN Iran faces the possibility of seeing those sanctions expanded to travel bans and the freezing of assets of those connected to their nuclear program.

While Iran has insisted its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes there is a growing belief among the international community that they are attempting to develop nuclear weapons. Those doubts have led to a number of sanctions against Iran but China has been pushing for more direct talks before further sanctions were put in place.
