LeBron James and the Cavaliers Take Care of Pistons in Six, Head to NBA Finals

LeBron James scored 20 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and handed out 8 assists, Daniel Gibson added 31 points, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas finished with a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbed 12 boards as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons 98-82 to win their first Eastern Conference Finals series.

Cleveland headed into the fourth quarter with a narrow 67-66 score but Daniel Gibson hit three three-pointers and LeBron James added a bucket and a free-throw to lead a 12-1 run to push their lead to 79-67.

Detroit had no answer for the Cavaliers spurt as they managed just three-field goals in the deciding period and could do nothing to stop Daniel Gibson. The Cleveland rookie dropped 19 points in the fourth quarter to provide the Cavs with a legitimate scoring threat outside of LeBron.

The Pistons opted to bully LeBron throughout the game, sending the star to the foul-line 19 times in the contest but James hit 14 from the stripe. As a team, Cleveland went to the line 46 times compared to the 27 foul-shots for the Pistons.

While Cleveland held a huge advantage at the line they were even more dominant on the glass as they pulled down 53 boards compared to just 33 for the Pistons.

Cleveland will now take on the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals beginning on Thursday.
