Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton has said that her faith in God helped her through the aftermath of her husband’s highly publicized affair with Monica Lewinsky.
Clinton joined Barack Obama and John Edwards on Monday in a small forum set up by Sojourners/Call to Renewal to discuss faith and the role it has played in their lives.
Hillary expounded on her decision to remain in her marriage with then President Bill Clinton after his admitted marital indiscretions saying “I'm not sure I would have gotten through it without my faith.”
Clinton said she relied on that faith when the world was waiting for her response to the affair, “I am very grateful that I had a grounding in faith that gave me the courage and the strength to do what I thought was right, regardless of what the world thought.”
Recent polls show Hillary Clinton to have a strong lead in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.
