Roger Federer continued his quest to hoist the French Open trophy for the first time in his career after disposing of Spaniard Tommy Robredo 7-5, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 to move into the semifinals at Roland Garros.
For the top-seeded Federer there was history on the clay court as well. He extended his winning streak in Grand Slam matches to 36 consecutive sets setting an Open era record. While the streak was halted when Robredo took the second set Federer bounced back to easily handle the third and fourth sets.
Up next for Federer will be number four-seeded Nikolay Davydenko. Federer has a career 8-0 mark against the Russian.
