Calling the photographs of Princess Diana shortly after the car accident that killed her “deeply distressing,” Prince William and Prince Harry are urging Channel 4 British Television not to use the pictures in a documentary about their mother set to air on Wednesday.
Despite the princes claiming the use of the photos would be a “gross disrespect to their mother's memory” the television channel has said they would broadcast the images that wee taken on the night of Princess Diana’s death.
Princess Diana, her friend Dodi Fayed and their chauffeur were killed after their car crashed while speeding away from paparazzi in Paris on August 31, 1997.
Channel 4 released a statement surrounding the controversial pictures saying,
“These photographs are an important and accurate eyewitness record of how events unfolded after the crash.
“We acknowledge that there is great public sensitivity surrounding pictures of the victims and these have not been included. Some photographs will be of the scene inside the tunnel but in none of the pictures is it possible to identify Diana or indeed any of the crash victims.
“We do not show, nor have we ever considered showing, Diana's final moments.”
