Danish Troops Storm Ship Held by Pirates, Free Crew

Danish troops, responding to a distress call from an Antigua and Barbuda-flagged vessel that had been captured by Somali pirates, stormed the ship and managed to free the 25 crew members.

The crew had managed to secure themselves in a safe-room on the ship as the pirates were boarding. A distress call was sent and a Danish warship in the area responded as troops, using inflatable dinghies, approached the ship, boarded and then freed the crew.

It is not known if the pirates were still on the Ariella when the Danish troops arrived.
