Toyota President Issues Apology for Massive Recall of Cars, Pledges Quality Control

Saying he was “deeply sorry” for the recent recalls Toyota President Akio Toyoda has vowed to put in place a quality control committee that will determine what led to safety issues for millions of cars worldwide.

As more than eight million cars have been recalled Toyoda admitted his company was facing “a moment of crisis” but also assured consumers that Toyota would tackle the problems.

The Toyota recall was put in place after learning of accelerator problem in several models.

Making matters worse for Toyota is the potential recall of some Toyota Prius hybrid models that have issues with their braking system. Those issues include a temporary loss of braking power while driving on uneven surfaces.

Toyota has said the recent events could cost them more than $2 billion in costs and lost sales and if a Prius recall is issued that figure could go even higher.
