New Course Teaches Sober Parents How To Love and Help Children
In a world of crime and drug abuse, simple responsibilities like taking care of your children can get ignored. Our newspapers and televisions are littered with stories of abandoned children, or children growing up around drugs and crime. When a person is consumed with drugs and alcohol it makes it almost impossible to think about anything else. The only real way to combat drug and alcohol addiction and give these children a fighting chance is for addicts to enroll in an effective drug rehab program like Narconon Louisiana.
Prior to graduating from the Narconon program clients enroll in a life course geared towards creating stronger morals called The Way To Happiness. Often times when a person tries to re-enter society after struggling with drugs or alcohol they realize that not only do they have to live a sober life but they have to live by a whole new moral code. The Way to Happiness is a common sense guide to life that addicts need in order to live a drug-free, productive life. Shannon*, a recent graduate of The Way To Happiness Course explains “I never considered myself a bad mother, I knew that my alcohol addiction was killing me, but I never stepped back and really examined the effects it had on my daughter until I did this course.”
After years of struggling with alcohol and relapsing Shannon’s family enrolled her in the Narconon Louisiana program. “Everyone knows that drinking is bad, everyone knows that alcoholism will eventually kill you,” she says. “But what The Way To Happiness Course taught me was that I had the ability to change all that, I had the ability to take care of my daughter better than before I even started drinking.”
In addition to focusing on an individual’s moral code, and the necessity to improve it prior to graduating the program, Narconon Louisiana focuses on several other aspects of a client’s life. Unlike most rehabilitation programs, Narconon does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problems drugs and/or alcohol was a solution for. Once that problem is isolated and handled, clients no longer feel the need to resort to drugs and alcohol as a way to get through life.
In addition to finding out why a person started using drugs and alcohol in the first place, Narconon Louisiana employs a unique detoxification program designed to rid the body of all harmful residue left behind from drugs and alcohol.
Achieving a 76% success rate, Narconon Louisiana’s unique and effective approach to rehabilitation is what allows people to lead a life free from drugs and alcohol. “I had been to several rehabs before coming to Narconon, and I always left thinking that there had to be something more” explains Shannon, “and it wasn’t until I completed The Way To Happiness course that I realized that not only was there something more, but that I had finally gotten the lessons I needed.”
