Jessica Simpson and John Mayer officially call it quits
Rumors of a split between Jessica Simpson and John Mayer have finally been confirmed. Simpson and Mayer have been off and on with their relationship after they were rumored to have begun dating in August 2006.
People magazine reported a source close to Mayer, 29, said "It has been rocky and it had been rocky, and it reached the end of the road. It is definitely over - the relationship has ended."
Jessica Simpson has also confirmed the split, but says there is still hope for them getting together in the future. "They broke up Sunday night, but who knows what the future will hold," a source told People. "This is the twelfth time they've broken up. Their relationship is volatile. Last week they felt better than ever. This week, things are rocky. Who knows what the future will bring."
Access Hollywood asked Jessica, 26, about her "rocky romance" with John and whether the reports were true. After asking the "Dukes of Hazzard" star if she and John were still friends she said "I'm going to keep my private life private, but I am very happy."
A source told People the reason for the split was differences between the pair were becoming "more and more apparent."
