A missing 15-year-old girl who disappeared nearly one-year ago was found locked in a small hidden room situated under a staircase on Wednesday.
Police arrived at the West Hartford, Connecticut home of Adam Gault and Ann Murphy on Wednesday to serve search warrants for DNA and other evidence related to the missing girl.
Upon inspection of the house they discovered a small room under the staircase that had been hidden by a cabinet. After removing the piece of furniture they found the young girl locked up but still alive.
The girl was taken into protective custody and is being examined by doctors.
Adam Gault is being held on $500,000 bond and has been charged with second-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree custodial interference, interfering with an officer, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree forgery.
Ann Murphy is being held on $100,000 bond and facing charges of conspiracy to commit second-degree reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit second-degree custodial interference and risk of injury to a minor.
Additional arrests are expected in the case.
