Police arrested 26-year-old Edwin R. Hall on Wednesday and are now expected to charge him with the pre-mediated first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping of Kelsey Smith, the 18-year-old Kansas woman who went missing last Saturday.
The body of Kelsey Smith was found in a wooded area approximately 20 miles from the last place she was seen alive. Smith had gone to a Target store in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City, on Saturday to buy a gift for her boyfriend.
Surveillance video of the store’s parking lot showed Smith being forced into her car shortly after 7:00 p.m. by a man police believe to be Edwin R. Hall. Police have linked Hall to a vehicle that entered the Target parking lot shortly after Smith and he matched the description of the man who was seen on the video.
Hall was interviewed by police on Wednesday night and arrested shortly after.
