Brad Pitt, George Clooney Face off Against Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom

While it may be Ocean’s ‘Thirteen’ this weekend will determine if Jack Sparrow’s ‘Pirates’ still rule the high seas.

Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon and the gang are back for the third installment of the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise and with the media blitz that has surrounded the “Ocean’s Thirteen” flick it should attract plenty of dollar spending moviegoers. Despite receiving mixed reviews for its lack of cohesion, ‘Ocean’s’ is expected to knock Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and the rest of the buccaneers of ‘Pirates’ out of the top spot they have claimed the past two weeks.

While Clooney portrays Danny Ocean, the leader of a band of thieves and con artists, he may find stealing the top spot at the box office to be more difficult than robbing a casino. Unlike the second installment of ‘Pirates,’ the ‘Ocean’s’ second effort wasn’t well received and led many to question the wisdom of a third.

Pitt, Clooney, Damon and the rest will have to hope moviegoers have forgotten about ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ if they are to have a strong opening. Even voluntary amnesia may not be enough for the crew as they will be competing against some serious firepower. Depp, Bloom and Keira Knightley may be nearing the end of the ‘Pirates’ run but last weekend’s impressive opening for “Knocked-Up” could be the next to claim the top spot.

“Ocean’s Thirteen” may have no problem holding off the other new entrants like “Hostel: Part II” and “Surfs Up” but overcoming the proven blockbusters of ‘Pirates’ and ‘Shrek’ and the great reviews for Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen in “Knocked-Up” may prve to be too much.
