Will Arizona Maintain the League’s Best Record?

The story of the year has to be the fact that the Arizona Cardinals hold the best record in the entire league. Prior to the start of the season, having the best record in the NFC West would have been a stretch for the Cardinals. They do happen to play in the same division as the Seattle Seahawks who only won the Super Bowl last season, and the 49ers that were one game short of being in the Super Bowl. Many people had the Cardinals finishing third in the division.

Bruce Arians, head coach of the Cardinals, has been able to prove the skeptics wrong as he has his team constantly finding ways to win football games. The Cardinals are a balanced attack that takes advantage of mistakes that their opponents make. Arizona’s defense has lost a good amount of critical pieces in the offseason and due to injuries. Karlos Dansby, Daryl Washington, John Abraham and Darnell Dockett are all Pro-Bowlers from last seasons defense, and all four of them are missing from this year’s defense. The NFL is an adaptive league and you have to win with what you have, and that is exactly what Arians has done this year.

On offense, Carson Palmer has been playing consistently enough to earn victories. Andre Ellington has become the explosive running back that Arizona thought he would be coming out of Clemson University. The incredible veteran wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald has become resurgent and is playing as good as he’s been in the past.

The team’s only loss this season has come against the AFC favorite, Denver Broncos. There is nothing to be ashamed of in losing to Peyton Manning and the Broncos. However, there are still tough games ahead of the Cardinals in the back end of the season that includes two matchups against the Seahawks and one against the 49ers. Winning the other games will put Arizona in the playoffs, and an NFC West crown.
