While Paris Hilton has spent less than a week in lockup the 26-year-old celebutante has already said the experience has changed her and she now has a desire to change directions in her life.
Hilton placed a collect call to Barbara Walters on Sunday and told the matriarch of “The View” that “I would like to make a difference. ... God has given me this new chance.”
It seems that all this time the star of “The Simple Life” has just been masquerading as a self absorbed heiress whose hedonistic desires trumped the law of the land. Hilton was quoted by ABC as saying “I used to act dumb. ... That act is no longer cute.”
Perhaps it was her appearance at the MTV Movie Awards that opened her eyes to the unsympathetic realm of her Hollywood counterparts. With a crowd of heavyweights laughing at her expense on Sunday, the soon-to-be locked up Hilton sat stone faced and humiliated. That evening she reported to the Century Regional Detention Facility in L.A. to begin her 23-days of incarceration for violating her probation in connection to an alcohol-related driving incident.
That stay was short lived as Hilton was sprung early Thursday morning after the Sheriff’s department placed her on home confinement due to a “medical condition.” That lasted for about a day before she was hauled back into court by Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer who sent her right back to lockup to serve out the remainder of her original 45-day sentence.
Hilton is now spending her time in the medical ward at the maximum security detention facility Twin Towers.
