The Memphis Grizzlies are off to one of their better runs in recent years. Reaching the playoffs in four consecutive years, they are well on their way to a fifth straight appearance. Ten games into the young 2014-15 season the Grizzlies maintain the best record in the NBA with a 9-1 record. Dating back to last season the Grizzlies have won a consecutive 19 games at home inside the FedEx Forum.
In order for the Grizzlies to be labeled as a possible NBA Finals contender, they must prove it in the postseason. They have never had an issue getting the job done in the regular season, but when it matters the most the Grizzlies are unable to get it done. The loaded Western Conference is far superior to the East. It is unfortunate that Memphis is always being matched against the Spurs or the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs each season. That is the hand that they are dealt, and they must find a way to conquer that if they want to become a legit threat in the West.
The roster has all the talent in the world on it. Mike Conley has become an All-Star point guard since being drafted out of Ohio State. Zach Randolph is the big man down low that teams hate to play against. Marc Gasol and Kosta Koufos make one of the best Center combinations in the NBA. There is also the perimeter threat of Vince Carter, Tony Allen, Courtney Lee, and Tayshaun Prince. From top to bottom this year’s Grizzlies roster is loaded and poised to bring good things to the city of Memphis.
