The Los Angeles Times polled 449 Democratic primary voters across the United States from June 7 to June 10. The results indicate that Joe Biden is the Democratic candidate that should be most pleased with the results.
Even though Joe Biden is polling fifth behind Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Al Gore, and John Edwards respectively; Biden made significant gains to jump from 1% in the same poll two months ago to 5%. Clinton stays the same, Obama drops one percentage point and Gore gains two percentage points.
He stands out as the only Democratic candidate that voted for the appropriation of funds to soldiers in Iraq. As he explained clearly in the Democratic debate in New Hampshire, he was not going to play politics with the soldiers and that he would do whatever he could to protect the soldiers on the ground.
"His performance at the debate resonated very well with Democratic primary voters" says David Terr of USAElectionPolls.com. This is further supported by getting 6% in the latest Mason-Dixon New Hampshire poll immediately following the debate.
Democratic primary voters can be relieved that Joe Biden will fight to end the war but that he puts the safety of the troops as his highest priority. "With his vote and his latest statements, Biden will not be easily attacked on foreign policy by Republicans in a general election" says USAElectionPolls.com.
