Fred Thompson

Fred Thompson is polling better in the red states than in the blue states. The entire Draft Thompson movement was centered around the fact that the Republican party needed a true conservative running for office and Thompson is doing well where he was expected to shine.

The Los Angeles Times  polled 408 Republican primary voters across the United States and found that Fred Thompson 21% was in a strong second to Giuliani's 27%. John McCain and Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich finished in a statistical dead heat for third place with 12, 10, and 9%. Giuliani's lead drops to just 4% over Thompson if the field is narrowed down to Giuliani, Thompson, McCain, and Romney suggesting that the supporters of the lower tier candidates are more likely to flock to Thompson.

USAElectionPolls.com suggests that a Fred Thompson's candidacy is very promising. "He is performing well in the states he is expected to and is starting to do well nationally" says the web site. According to USAElectionPolls.com, if he were to participate in the debates and do well, it might become a two horse race for the Republican nomination between Giuliani and Thompson. John McCain has been languishin in the polls and needs something to revive himself. As for Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson will have taken over as the champion of the "conservative" platform.
