Whoopi Goldberg to replace Rosie on "The View"
Whoppi Goldberg may be taking Rosie O'Donnell's place on "The View." According to the "Star" the decision has already been made. The "Star" says ABC has met with potential replacements such as Kathy Griffin, Roseanne Barr, Riki Lake, and Gayle King, but they seem to think Goldberg is definitely the one.
"While Kathy was a strong contender," an unnamed source tells Star, "Whoopi has won everyone over."
"Whoopi has a radio show [heard here on 106.1-FM], she lives in New York City and she is an institution there," the insider says. "She also is liberal and outspoken but not crazy like Rosie was. She will be a perfect fit as far as the ladies on 'The View' are concerned."
"Everyone is acting like Whoopi already has the gig," says the insider.
The insider adds that although nothing has been officially announced, the producers and the host are all set on Goldberg filling the position and she will probably start in the fall.
