Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander struck out the Milwaukee Brewers’ Craig Counsell and Tony Graffanino to start the ninth inning and then got J.J. Hardy to lift a fly ball to right fielder Magglio Ordonez to complete the first no-hitter in Comerica Park history and the first Detroit Tigers no-hitter since Jack Morris no-hit the Chicago White Sox in 1984.
Verlander struck out 12 in the Tigers 4-0 win and improved to 7-2 on the season while lowering his ERA to 2.79.
Verlander became the second pitcher this season to throw a no-hitter as Chicago White Sox left Mark Buehrle accomplished the feat on April 18 against the Texas Rangers.
