Tony Parker scored 17 points, Tim Duncan added 14 points and 9 rebounds and Bruce Bowen finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs continued their run through the NBA Finals with a 75-72 victory over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeBron had a chance to tie the score with five seconds left on the clock but his three-pointer from the top of the key fell short and the Spurs took a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
Cleveland was awful from the floor, hitting just 36 percent of their shots including a dismal 3-19 performance from beyond the three-point line. Both James and Daniel Gibson went a collective 0-10 from deep and the bench added little support adding seven points in the game.
Despite the Cavaliers inability to score they still had an excellent opportunity to at least extend the game to overtime yet they failed on each occasion. After Sasha Pavlovic hit a three-pointer to cut the Cavaliers deficit to 72-70 with 48 seconds on the clock Anderson Varejao blocked a Tony Parker shot. With a chance to tie the score Varejao failed to hit a layup and the Cavs were forced to foul Manu Ginobili with ten seconds on the clock. Ginobili hit one of two and the Cavs once again had a chance to tie the score but LeBron opted for a layup with six seconds left to cut the score to 73-72. Ginobili returned to the line after being fouled and sank both to give San Antonio a 75-72 advantage and then James missed the three-pointer that would have sent the game to overtime.
The Spurs will now have a chance to win the NBA championship on Thursday when both teams meet for game four in Cleveland.
