J.K. Rowling was made famous after she wrote the series "Harry Potter." This fall she is going on a promotional tour throughout the United States. Rowling will read to crowds of children, answer questions, and sign books.
The final book in the "Harry Potter" series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," will be available on July 21. She will arrive in the United States in October and have her first reading on Oct. 15 in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theater followed by a reading at the Earnest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. She will then travel to Carnegie Hall in New York on Oct. 19.
Tickets won’t be sold for these events. Scholastic will pick certain schools to send children for three of the readings and tickets for the fourth reading can be obtained by entering a Scholastic sweepstakes where each winner will receive two tickets. On July 30 details on the sweepstakes will be available.
"What J.K. Rowling loves most is to talk with her readers, and that is what she will be able to do on this very special U.S. tour," said Lisa Holton the president of Scholastic Trade and Books Fairs.
