"American Idol" Kelly Clarkson calling off tour

Kelly Clarkson planned to go on a concert tour but disappointing ticket sales prompted the singer to call off tour plans. The tour was scheduled to start on July 13 in Seattle. Tickets can be retuned for a full refund at the point of purchase.

"Ticket sales have not been what we anticipated, and we came to the realization that we had bit off more than we could chew," said CEO of Live Nation, Michael Rapino.

Clarkson won the first season of Fox’s hit show "American Idol" in 2002. She has put out two albums since then and her third on called "My December" is due to be released on June 26.

Gregg Perloff from Another Planet Entertainment reassured fans that she will do a concert tour soon saying "The day when she will play sold out arenas is, no doubt, coming, but for now her fans should look forward to seeing her in a more intimate concert environment."

Clarkson and her team are "reevaluating her show’s size and scope" before making anymore touring plans.
