Spice Girls Reunion in the Works

According to Spice Girls member Mel C a reunion of the British quintet could actually happen.

Speaking to BBC radio the 33-year-old Mel C said “For the first time ever, there is some truth in the rumors. We've been discussing it and it could possibly happen.”

The Spice Girls debut single “Wannabe” of the album Spice sold over 53 million worldwide and turned them into one of the most commercially successful bands of all time. The single set records for sales by an all female group and launched them into superstardom.

Their second album, Spiceworld, was equally successful with 10 million sold but by the time their third album, Forever, hit in 2000 their popularity had fallen off. In Feb. 2001 they announced that they would be splitting up to concentrate on their solo careers.

While a reunion may be in the works Mel C made one thing clear, “If the Spice Girls were to get back together it would be for a very short space of time. It would be a final goodbye and a 'thank you' to all the fans all over the world.”

No word on a potential date or confirmation from fellow spice girls Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton or Geri Halliwell has been released.
