Ron Paul Famous But Still Unknown Presidential Candidate

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is one of the most popular candidates on the Internet. His website RonPaul2008.com gets massive traffic and is one the topmost visited sites when compared to other presidential candidates.

That is why it is surprising that when it comes to scientific polls, he is still trailing the pack and many Republican voters claim not to know him.

What is it that makes Ron Paul, the face of the Republican presidential race on the internet, an unknown personality in the scientific polls?  There are number of reasons but I have taken just a few which have the biggest impact.

The first reason on my list is the biased and limited news coverage Ron Paul received before the second Republican debate. Media portrayed him as a fringe candidate and gave more mileage to front-runners.

  1. The polling methods used by many agencies are outdated and are conducted by randomly calling telephone numbers from a directory. Ron Paul has a large support base with young Americans who prefer to carry cell phones, which means that they are not listed.
  2. Ron Paul's message of freedom, peace and prosperity has gone beyond the Republican supporters. So the screening methods used are inaccurate which focus just on voters who are identified by pollsters as Republicans and probable primary voters. However, Ron Paul is also popular with Independents, Democrats and Libertarians who see him as the only anti-war, pro-taxpayer Presidential candidate.

But now Ron Paul is getting popular as many Americans hear his name for the first time and are checking him and his credentials themselves. They are all getting impressed with what they are finding and there is no doubt that Ron Paul will be a major force to reckon with. His popularity is fast growing beyond the realms of Internet.
